Proof that you are the owner of the plate entitlement:

V4C or V5CNI logbook, V5C/2 or V5C/2NI new keeper slip

V778 certificate 

Form of ID that proves your name and identity:

Driving licence, Passport or utility bill.

3D and 4D plates are completely legal and mot compliant as long as they follow the correct sizing, spacing and font. The plate will also need to carry the manufacturer’s mark and postcode as well as the relevant BSAU number to be road legal. If you choose a none compliant format or want slogans on your plates then the legal markings will be removed and will be deemed a show plate for off road use only
